Legacy of Orphans -The Hope, the Journey, the Horror

Child’s backpack made from handmade flax “paper” cut, painted and sewn to represent the hopes of a child moving to a safer country. The note, made of flax paper, tells the story with names and the telephone number of an aunt living in the USA, the water bottle is made from flax, the map is a photo transfer describing the route. Finally, the devastating reality of a family crossing the border is represented by a key and lock made of knotless netting with hemp cord.
